| The Anahuac Area centers around the City of Anahuac located on FM 563, seven miles south of Interstate 10. Situated at the mouth of the Trinity River, at the head of Galveston Bay, Anahuac is only about 50 miles away from the metropolitan areas of Houston, Galveston and Beaumont-Port Arthur. Anahuac is the county seat of Chambers County and is located in the central part of the county. The area includes the communities of Anahuac, Hankamer, Wallisville, Smith Point, Double Bayou, and Oak Island. This area is well known for its rich natural resources, fishing and oyster industries, farming, and ranching.
